Mixing science and art, we discover ecological concepts while observing the details of nature. Drawing, painting, writing and field records will unleash the intrigue of the out-of-doors in a fun and inspirational way. This journaling retreat is led by wildlife bioligist and artist Heather Wallis Murphy. Experienced and beginners in art and science are all welcome. The retreat provides time to hike or time for studio work. Highlights: -Canyon Wren Recital Hall will be our home base for the full course -Two full-day field trips include shuttle transport. One Hike and Draw field trip and one Float and Draw field trip (includes pontoon boat and boat driver for Fish Lake and lunch at the Grunewald Guild) -Art Studio Hut for you to focus, relax and create. Studio time is built into course. -Down time is built in so you may enjoy our settings, a bike ride or a walk -We have added Yoga Walking, training our bodies to relax, stretch and move -New ideas from art and birding workshops which Heather has attended in Ireland, France and Austria -Full day on Watercolor techniques The 6-day retreat includes five nights’ lodging, 15 meals, course instruction, journal, field trip, admission to ICCA film screening. The 3-day retreat (Tues-Thur or Fri-Sun) includes two nights' lodging, 6 meals, course instruction, journal, field trip, admission to ICCA film screening.
