Once the snow flies, everything changes. Wildflower slopes become sledding hills, pastureland and forest trails become groomed Nordic tracks. Floating the river gives way to contemplating it from a cozy room with a view.
You can bring a sled and find multiple places to put it to use, but two of our favorites are the Leavenworth Ski Hill Winter Park, with it's sledding and contoured tubing slopes, and for the little ones (and young at heart) nothing beats the petite hill above the downtown park that sits in the heart of the Bavarian Village. Bales of straw will stop you should you get too fast a glide going.
