I Am Not Your Negro

Icicle Creek Center for the Arts - 7409 Icicle Road Leavenworth, WA 98826

Writer James Baldwin tells the story of race in modern America with his unfinished novel, “Remember This House.” Narrated by Samuel L. Jackson and directed by Raoul Peck, the film envisions the book Baldwin never completed - a radical narration about race in America, through the lives and assassinations of three of his friends: Martin Luther King Jr., Medgar Evers and Malcom X., using only the writer’s original words.

Nominated for the 2017 Academy Award for Best Documentary.

“One of the best movies you’re likely to see this year.”
- Manohla Dargis, The New York Times

“Transcendent. A meditation on the prophetic brilliance of James Baldwin.”
- Owen Gleiberman, Variety
