Guitar Euphoria Festival Concerts

Snowy Owl Theater, Icicle Creek Center for the Arts - 7409 Icicle Road, Leavenworth, WA, 98826

Icicle Creek's newest festival, Guitar Euphoria, features four amazing guitarists with a variety of styles:
Alex de Grassi (steel string)
Leon Atkinson (jazz and classical)
Danny Godinez (steel string and electric)
Andre Feriante (classical and flamenco).

The four day festival is based on a traditional formula with concerts and workshops but has a strong focus on creativity, imagination and personal artistic awareness.

August 20, 7PM Danny Godinez's solo performances showcase his fiery guitar technique, thoughtful vocal songs, and experimental grooves using innovative guitar looping. He has performed with a wide variety of musical figures, including Carlos Santana, Tim Reynolds, Lee Oskar, and Taj Mahal.
Award winning Segovia-trained guitarist/composer Andre Feriante has introduced a sensual and contemporary sound to an otherwise traditional genre. His creative blend of classical, flamenco and Brazilian styles speaks to people from all walks of life. In recent years, Andre has garnered rave reviews for applying his innovative approach and guitar mastery to the ukulele and nylon-stringed banjo.
LEON ATKINSON: August 21, 7PM Leon Atkinson has been in love with the guitar since he was three. His schooling in the field includes classical guitar training from Cuban Albert Valdes Blain. He studied with guitar Maestro Andres Segovia in Spain before beginning his teaching career in classical guitar at the college level. He also launched his prestigious "Guitar Hour" on NPR.
ALEX de GRASSI: August 22, 7PM De Grassi is widely acclaimed as a leading innovator and virtuoso of acoustic guitar, fusing a variety of guitar traditions into a highly orchestrated sound. The Wall Street Journal has called his playing "flawless" and Billboard hails his "intricate finger-picking technique with an uncanny gift for melodic invention."

Cost: $20 general admission $24 at door $15 students

The master classes and workshops are designed for intermediate to advanced finger style players. And all students will have the opportunity to have one on one and/or small group sessions with the instructors. All of this takes place in one of the most beautiful and inspiring places in the world; at the foot of the Enchantments in the middle of the Cascade Mountains. It is a unique element of this festival that is sure to bring out new ways of experiencing the guitar. We hope to celebrate the amazing beauty of the guitar as an acoustic instrument in its various styles. Our ultimate goal is for this first gathering of Guitar Euphoria to be a time a great comradery between players and teachers where every student and lover of the guitar walks away with a renewed passion and vision for the guitar and understands themselves and their listeners better through the process of making music.
