Sustainable living and farming practices for every lifestyle await folks at the third annual Sustainable Living and Farming Tour in Leavenworth, September 10th and 11th. Onsite demonstrations, hands-on workshops, vendors, exhibitors and the signature self-guided driving tour offer something for everyone! From raising chickens and bees, growing organic produce, and improving the soil in your home garden, to alternative building materials and everyday living techniques, this year’s tour has expanded its diversity of offerings!

All day Saturday, 9am- 4pm, come down to Wenatchee River Institute at Barn Beach Reserve for a series of interactive workshops and demonstrations in the Barn, peruse the sustainable marketplace of vendors and exhibitors, bring a picnic lunch to enjoy along the river, or enjoy a short walk into town for all that Leavenworth has to offer. Join us after dinner and close out the night with casual live music on the lawn, or try something knew with a Sip n Paint class hosted by Artis!

The self- guided portion of the tour is an adventure through scenic landscape to selected organic farms and gardens, discover the “truth window” and a straw bale house, observe a live goat milking session, pet an alpaca, harvest some honey, then discuss residential solar with an early adopter. Still crave more? Learn how to ferment your own food, raise backyard chickens for meat and eggs, compost food scraps, visit a tiny house, and expand your knowledge of food waste and farm to school produce! Selfguided tour sites are available both Saturday and Sunday. For those who don’t feel like driving a minitour bus option is available Saturday at 10am or 2pm.

The tour runs 9am- 4pm Saturday, September 10th and 10am- 5pm Sunday, September 11th. Tickets are $20 before September 9, and $25 day of the event. Children 15 and under are free with a paid adult. For more information and to purchase tickets visit WRI on-line at www.wenatcheeriverinstitute.org
