Part of the local culture is growing gardens, whether with flowers around the yard, a berry bed out back or a veggie plot, perhaps shared with others in the community.

Another way we enjoy the plant world is by hiking in the spring. Probably the best known wildflower in Cascade Farmlands is the Arrowleaf Balsamroot, which blankets the region from mid April, hanging on in the higher elevations through mid May. As the golden Balsamroot barely begins to fade, purple-blue stalks of wild lupine bring on the color. ADVENTURES
